Maryland Equitable Justice Collaborat (MEJC)
At the recent Maryland Equitable Justice Collaborative (MEJC) event, AMC Vice President Michele Kennedy-Kouadio spoke on key issues including decarceration, parole, conditions of confinement, and in-custody deaths. Active MEJC work group members were joined by special attendees—Commissioner Morgan of the Maryland Division of Corrections, representatives from the Office of Secretary Carolyn Scruggs (DPSCS), and Yvonne Briley-Wilson, Maryland’s Correctional Ombudsman—whose presence was greatly appreciated. Their participation underscored the importance of collaboration and dialogue in addressing the urgent challenges within Maryland’s correctional system.

5th Annual Sisters on the Shore
Tea Party Edition

Today, I had the pleasure of attending Sisters on The Shore: Tea Party Edition—and what a beautiful experience it was!
My sister, Kelly Greene, told me I had the “Onassis flare” 💜 and I proudly carried a bag once owned by my late sister, Lynne Mifflin, so she could be with me in spirit 🥰
The energy in the room was powerful—full of sisterhood, grace, and genuine love. I left feeling completely covered and uplifted.

Community Seminar on Human Trafficking and Incarceration
A recent seminar shed light on the harsh realities of human trafficking and its connection to the cycle of incarceration. Attendees engaged in powerful discussions about the different types of human trafficking, from labor and sex trafficking to exploitation within vulnerable communities. The seminar also explored how incarceration, trauma, and systemic challenges can intersect with trafficking, often trapping individuals in cycles of victimization and criminalization.
This eye-opening event empowered the community with knowledge, resources, and actionable steps to aid in prevention, support survivors, and advocate for justice. Together, we continue to raise awareness and stand against exploitation in all its forms.

Honoring Mother's Day
We want to take a moment to honor a mother in our community who has experienced an unimaginable loss. Her son was taken from her as a result of gun violence, and we want to acknowledge the strength and resilience she has shown in the face of such tragedy. We stand with her and all those affected by gun violence, and we are committed to working towards a safer and more peaceful future for our community.
The Importance of Grassroots Organizations
AMC recently attended an event at Salisbury University where Senator Sarbanes spoke about the importance and value of grassroots organizations. The event shed light on the significance of grassroots movements in bringing about change and making a difference in society.
